We did not know about The Happiest Baby on the Block when our son was born and suffered through months of sleep deprivation & post-partum depression as we couldn’t soothe him. He hated being swaddled. Our question is; we would like to add to our family but cannot see ourselves surviving another colicky child. Why do you think your techniques work?

We often hear from many parents how tough it is to listen to your baby cry and be exhausted and still not be able to help.

You should be very optimistic! You can have another baby and The Happiest Baby on the Block techniques will absolutely help the baby cry 90% less! (You will see this when you look at the mom’s responses on Amazon.com, on the actual Happiest Baby DVD, etc).

In over 95% of cases, even babies with colic can be calmed MUCH more successfully with The Happiest Baby and when it doesn’t work, it is because the baby might be sick and need medical attention.

Dr. Karp says with using exactly the right techniques you will be much more successful. The reason why Dr. Karp created the DVD is to teach parents the right way to do the techniques because it can be hard to get the nuance of it from the book. Dr. Karp highly suggests getting the DVD, not the book. The book can be purchased at a later date but the visual aspect of the DVD is so helpful for new parents.

We recommend The Happiest Baby DVD and CD of white noise to use during fussy periods but Dr. Karp strongly encourages if you have problems, you can e-mail him again and he will be able to help you through any questions/concerns you may have.

It may surprise you to know that when dads watch the DVD, they usually are the best baby calmers in the family! You can click on the following link to watch a clip of a father calming his crying/fussy baby…. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WkR_e1L6zxI&feature=related

We understand the frustration you are feeling regarding the hesitation to have another child. It is best to watch The Happiest Baby on the Block DVD now to gain more confidence in your swaddling/calming techniques. It would also be extremely beneficial to find a class in your area to take before your baby is born.
