take a look at teh DVD again to make sure you are doing the S's properly (especially swaddle, shushing - try a strong sound like our CD of the womb - and the jiggly swinging). If you are doing everything correctly, then it's a good idea to check with your baby's doctor.

Any suggestions for a 2 year old that will not sleep through the night? My husband and I have been surviving with 5-6 hours of interrupted sleep each night for the last 1.5 years because our son will not sleep through the night. His nighttime routine is around 8:30pm, I lay down with him in my bed (because he won't go to sleep in his own). He has a cup of milk and will fall asleep. Once he's been asleep for about 20 minutes, we gently move him into his own bed. Without fail, he wakes up anywhere from 11:30pm-3:00am crying and comes to our room. At this point, we're so exhausted that we just pick him up and let him fall back to sleep with us. In most cases, I can't fall back to sleep so I wind up staying up and then going to work tired. For example, I'm sending this comment at 2:26am. I've had 1.5 hours of sleep tonight and will not be able to go back to sleep. This is causing tension and problems between my husband and I. Any suggestions because I'm willing to try anything that's safe for my son.

Thank you, Melissa

Hi, my son is almost three months old and is doing quite well with the 5 S's. I read in your book that you believe that most babies are very capable of putting themselves to sleep on their own at 3 months and you recommend putting them in the crib sleepy, but semi-awake. What is your technique for teaching them to sleep on their own without crying themselves to sleep?

Thank you,
Rhea

My husband and I are very grateful for the 5 S's. Your work has helped us and our baby. We are having a problem with swaddling now that our is 3 months old. He is breaking free of his swaddle with more ease every day. He is also out growing the swaddle cloths and he is not a large baby. Is this a sign that we should stop swaddling? How do we know when to stop, it seems he is still being helped by the swaddle. Also, can you recommend a place to get larger swaddle cloths?

Thank you,
