My son is five months old and continues to need to be swaddled to sleep. I’m really concerned that he will still feel he needs to be swaddled at 9 months of age, but won’t fit in any blankets.
Dr. Karp strongly recommends reading the section on Sleep in The Happiest Baby on the Block Book. The earliest Dr. Karp recommends weaning from swaddling is 4 months but many babies may need it for 5, 6, 7 months or more (rarely beyond one year of age). Make sure the swaddling blanket you are using is large enough so that your son will not be able to break out of it.
