My daughter is 8 months old – Is it time for her to stop swaddling? If so what is the best way to do this without confusing her and losing her routine?
If your daughter is outgrowing her current swaddling blankets, Dr. Karp suggests using a larger swaddle blanket or even just cut a sheet in half (to make large square) and use that. You daughter may need the swaddle for another month or two but it’s doubtful she will need it any longer than that.
A really important calming tool in addition to the 5 S’s is our CD of white noise. The ‘Super Soothing’ Sleep Sounds CD has 5 specially engineered tracks of white noise to further calm & soothe crying/fussy babies. Dr. Karp recommends using white noise throughout the duration of her nighttime sleep and it will even help with weaning from the swaddle! Many parents find using our CD is extremely beneficial for the first year and even up to 2, 3 & 4 years of age!
